Ameriške okupacijske sile so v četrtek v Iraku izpeljale dva napada na iranske (!) cilje, zajele pet Irancev in zaplenile dokumente in računalnike.
Ameriški predsednik George Bush pravi: »Iran and Syria (…) are allowing terrorists and insurgents to use their territory to move in and out of Iraq. Iran is providing material support for attacks on American troops. We will disrupt the attacks on our forces. We will interrupt the flow of support from Iran and Syria. And we will seek out and destroy the networks providing advanced weaponry and training to our enemies in Iraq.«
Ameriška državna sekretarka Condoleezza Rice pravi: »Syria and indeed Iran must decide whether they wish to side with the cause of war or with the cause of peace.« Prvi ameriški obveščevalec John Negroponte pravi: »Iran's influence is rising in ways that go beyond the menace of its nuclear program.«
ZDA niso dobile vojne v Afganistanu (Rice je zmago nazadnje obljubila junija lani.) Niti vojne v Iraku (Bush je v sredo dejal: »The question is whether our new strategy will bring us closer to success. I believe that it will.«). Niti vojne proti Al Kaidi (Negroponte je v četrtek dejal: »Al-Qaeda is significantly expanding its global reach, effectively immune to the loss of leaders in battle.«)
Bush pravi, da bo izjalovljena okupacija Iraka polom. Drži, bo polom, vendar za ZDA 'le' posledično. 'Izvirni' polom za Združene države je Bush sam. Še huje, George Walker je kolosalno zamočil prav s tem, s čimer je hotel očetu za vse večne čase dokazati, da ga je vreden. V Iraku, kjer je spodletelo tudi Bushu seniorju. Bebave grožnje Iranu (in Siriji) so v odmerkih iz zadnjih 48 ur tako očiten izraz nemoči in že kar obupa, da jih ne kaže spregledati kljub navidezni odsotnosti 'racionalnega jedra'.
